Half-Life 2 GONE GOLD
« on: October 19, 2004, 10:19:46 PM »
Forgot to post this, but Half-Life 2 went gold on Monday, and will be shipping worldwide NOVEMBER 16th(this includes Steam users too). I suggest buying the game off Steam, seeing as how Valve gets more money from it and its a WAY better deal (check out the Silver package), plus you get to play Counter-Strike: SOURCE right now. I must say it's a blast and the Source engine is freakin' incredible.

More importantly, Half-Life 2 is getting incredible reviews. It's easily one of the highest rated games, ever. Those of you who thought Doom 3's single player was good ( ) will probably think HL2 will be the second coming or something.

I just blew my game budget, so I guess I need to add this to the Christmas list?

Didn't say I didn't have stuff to put on it...

I raided GoGamer the other day and blew some pennies.

Can you say cheap games?!?  I knew you could.

I am not sure but I'll have to put it on the Christmas list. but I wasn't too impressed with half liife. So we'll have to see about HL2 if it is worth it or not. are there going to be any demos to try.

What is all the talk about getting the 'source' with the game?  I assume they are saying the source coding of the game. But why does it matter if you get it or not?

I hate that suggestion, Like moving a card will fix something, Oh yeah I never thoutght of that, especially since this is the only piece of software that crashes my compter. Then There responce is usally, 'Humor use' and the worste of it is that you will actually try change the card, mostly to prove them wrong buut still it is the priciple of it. Gahhhh! O well, Good with that luck Boom. hope you can play longer sooon and that auto save doen't have to become you best friend, just because you are anticipating a crash.
Me on the other hand, might be getting it around good ol' christmas time!

Moved the sound  card and CRASH. Disabled the sound card CRASH.
I'm going to lower the timing on my ram from 2-3-3-7 to 2.5-3-3-7 and see if that works.

I have installed my HL2 game. WOO HOO!...

It took me about an hour to install the game and update with Steam and everything. That was a bummer. Especially when you want to install it fast and play some before you go back to work when on your lunch break! :)

I have not had one crash. It runs like a dream. The graphics are great. I am loving the story line an movement of the story within the game so far. It has grabbed my attention. I'm going to play all night tonight. :)

After many tests and trials I have found the problem When your 6800 gt gets to hot 120c it shuts down. I guess I have to leave the door open.

Boom i have a solution for you.

First, you need to go groceriy shopping, get 3 large industrial fans the yype that look like an upside down hair dryer without a handle. mostly used to dry carpet. then get 1 large deep freeze, big enough to stuff 6 whole adault males in to. now get some ducting I suggest the 5" flexi-duct that has the silver finish. oh and some duct tape.

Now in asembly you need to cut two 5" hole in the deep freeze on either end and attach a length of  duct work to both ends. now plug in the deep freeze and crank it low. now attach a fan to one end then cut a hole you computer case for the other fan to attach to. run some duct from the deep freeze to the inlet of the fan. make sure to secure eveything with duct tape and lets fire her up.

there you go and to barrow a line "if the women don't find you handsome they'll find you handy"

You could always try a water cooled system.
if you want the hi resolution. I am glad you got it fixed though. but the lesson in this story is, it still wasn't you SB card, was it.;)
