ClearPC Secret Agent Briefcase Acrylic Case, All Clear
« on: November 28, 2003, 09:26:45 PM »
[This is a press release]

This is ClearPC computer case engineer CPC16. I made it out!.  I have burns on my neck and hands but otherwise I am alright. My colleague fell as the mail terminal we were at detonated. The explosion offered me a way out and I took it while smoke was thick.

Clandestinely, The Upgrade Path Inc. via their web site at http://www.clearpc.ca launched a new LAN gaming computer case; the ClearPC Secret Agent Briefcase (C.S.A.B.),   the world's first
clear acrylic James Bond-style computer case in a briefcase format.

The partial story of the development of the C.S.A.B. appears here along with my escape:

http://www.clearpc.ca/press/clearpc_secret_agent.pdf

I am here to continue my warning about the C.S.A.B. as a highly addictive computer gaming enclosure.

Be warned, you may never game the same, socialize, speak in public, entertain family nor friends or otherwise maintain human contact.  Your immersion into the world of computer gaming will be total and final.

Take this as a desperate warning before you visit this web site:

http://www.clearpc.ca

My last and final regards.

Engineer CPC16, Project Lt., ClearPC Secret Agent Briefcase

I like the case, but I'd still trash the post.  Frank, donate one to our next LAN party and I'll change my mind.  Better yet, become one of our regular sponsors.  We are always looking to showcase the latest and greatest hardware and accessories.

My reason for trashing the post is because I really don't like seeing the forums used for free advertising space.  I still like the case though.

OK, here is the reason I asked CPC.  We generally frown on using the forums for advertising.  If you have a product you would like mentioned in here, bring it to the attention of the Admins, Zeet and Myself, and we will take a look at the site.

As hard core gamers, we all love new and/or unique equipment.  Heck Boomslang, Dragon, and I were ogling all kinds of hardware at CompUSA yesterday.  But we prefer that the ads not be posted in here.

I do like the looks of your product, and the story approach did catch my funny though! ;)

Stick around, we would love to hear more about your stuff.  If you like you can submit a story on the stuff to be posted on our mainsite as well.  I like to promote good equipment for good people.  And personnally I appreciate that you actually checked back on your post and apologized.  Thanks!

We have a LAN party coming up in March 19, and becoming a sponsor is a GREAT way to advertise.  I go out of my way, (I've driven an extra 30 minutes) to use the companies that are sponsors.  Send ZWarrior an email, and he'll give you all the details.

I need a clarification of something.

I found this on their web site;

"LEGAL STATEMENT

DISCLAIMER
We do not recommend or endorse the use of a high-voltage power supply in the ClearPC®. ClearPC® is a replica of an ATX computer chassis and it is NOT intended to house a working computer system. Our case is designed for use as a display only for trade shows, retail stores, educational institutions and anywhere else where the visualization of electronic components (motherboards & video cards) is required: nothing more. We will not be held responsible for the improper use of our product other than for that which it was intended. Questions? Please call (+1) 250-721-DIGI (3444). "

Why exactly do I want to buy a case that isn't meant for a working system?  Isn't that the whole point of having an exotic case like this?  Why are you trying to market this to the gaming community if you are unwilling to stand behind your product?

CPC?

This is a great chance for you to speak on your products and their virtue.

I am sure that this will get asked over and over, and also may turn a few peeps away.

Actually, I have had some good feedback on the story lkine for the Secret Agent.  I just haven't heard from people yet who think it is cheese.  I will try to tone down the cheese in my next installment.  Heh heh.

I could donate, but only until I have more than a prototype.  I am getting my final, final prototype on Wednesday for last review before I begin a small production run.

The reason I posted and the reason I chose the press release format was to provide newsworthy information that I thought your foum members would want to hear about.  I probably should have mailed you a press release instead.  Sorry about that!

Not a problem.  I did enjoy the story, but letting me know about the press release and getting clearance would have been better.

As far as a demo for sponsorship, if you have one for our event in march that you would like to have given out as a prize, feel free to contact me and we can talk more about that.

Just finished your installation instructions.  Pretty cool looking system.  So how is it that the case isn't designed for a computer case, but you have instructions for installing the hardware?

Is the disclaimer just to protect you from those who would abuse the case and want a refund?

I have a web site which begins with the words MOD Ave.. I have no idea what people are going to do with their enclosures, absolutely none.  I guess I could reword my Disclaimer so that it doesn't sound so harsh but it scares away the newbies, which is exactly who I don't think these cases are for.  I mod each case to the best of my ability and it takes a long, long time to do each one.  It takes a little more skill to do assembly and bring a mod together so if you have just anyone putting them together it equals tech. support nightmare.  I am a one man company so I can't do that and expect to release newer cooler gear.  I have had buy out ops. from Chinese firms but I told them to blow because I don't know what else I would do with myself.  Heh heh.  I need to mod or die.

Heh, heh.  Well, the press release I sent is actually the engineer looking back on what came about earlier.  The beginning of the story actually starts here:

http://www.clearpc.ca/press/clearpc_secret_agent.pdf

For a made up story by a one man show company, hey, I have to defend my compositional skills as being pretty entertaining:  at least for me and 1 fan.  heh heh...

All I heard was a little bald man yelping down the street.  No one else has come around here in quite a while.  No offense to your Dad.
