We might be able to, if there is enough demand, and prizes.

Hey! what clans for sure are going to be there at Lanbush? I'm gona bring one when I get a select Group put together fully. So far, it's KrazyKK and I, but there are still people in competition for the other 2 spots that are from OSG. It'll be fun to get a tryout tourny going there and seeing all of the no0bs go crazy on each other. I think its funny just to see the people try to play UT 1 after they spent sooooo much time playing its sequel. I'll be the first (or a close second) to admit that they are totally different in control and weapon power and usage (ie. translocator limit, link gun power, NO FRICKEN ENFORSERS). I try to keep the skills honed in both games by playing one, then the other right after.

also, I would love to play vintage games like starcraft. While were at it, I'll try to bring Rise of the Triad. helllllllll yaaaaa!! haven't touched that game since my 486DX2 days. lol. I actually did some research on the game and found out that it was the 1st FPS to allow you to look up and down. some people thought that it was heretic to do this...nope. Also (check this out) it was actually going to be the sequel to Wolfenstein 3D. But they just droped it in the last minute. http://www.apogee1.com/rott/originalspec.html

Hey fellas, I just played at the Crackdown yesterday and we played a lot of UT......actually, thats all we played even though they said they would have a tourny in CS. It was brought to my attention once my friend and I got there, they had settings for the 1 vs 1 deathmatch that were different than what the regional or national tourny's hold them as. I was unaware that this was going to occur, but I guess that's partly cause I signed up late and didn't research it as much as I should have. The settings were as follows: 135-150 game speed, 50% air control (or something) and low gravity. I've never practiced with these settings so I only took 2nd place. I was wanting to know if you were going to set up the UT tourny to have the normal settings or not. If you don't have the normal settings, make sure that you at least tell the people in the forums and in the brocures (I saw some at crackdown) what the settings are, and don't wait till the last minute cause it ticks people off. Also, make sure that the maps are from the original UT and not some map that some Ha'beb from Pakistan came up with with a ga'zillion weapons everywhere and is in the complete open, cause it sucks to download a map that you've never played before......and compete in a payed tourny. At least ask the people playing in the tourny what map they prefer. I am sure that Fa1tality's  final deathmath round was not played in......burgerworld.

There are things that people want to see when they are paying for a LAN party

1: The look and feel of it being more organized and not like some LAN party that you would hold in your basment with you buds.
2: looking like you care what the "paying" costomers want and not what more benifical for the people hosting.
3: A faster pacing between prelinimary rounds in a bracketed tourny.
4:Normal settings on a competitve game, unless "clearly" stated otherwise in a flyer or  in the forums under where you would go to get info about the LAN party.

With these kept in mind (which I am sure that you know because you wouldn't do that to the people who you'd want to come back next year) you will host an awsome party that will recieve praises and complements.

Good points all, Slider.  In defense of  the Crackaz, they are new to the field, and are still learning.  Be sure to let them know.  The biggest problem we have is not getting that feedback after our events.

With regard to the game rules, check the rules area on the event info page: http://www.ambushsite.com/lanparty/.  We have posted them already.  We only use the standard maps, with a select few custom maps.  The custom maps we do use are selected based on the quality of the layout and balance of weapons. ( Unless Slider is playing.  THEN we make sure that there is no blue guns at all! ;) )

We are one of the oldest gaming firms in the area, and thus have been through the ropes of running these things.

Our goal is to have the players walk away saying one thing, "Man! That was awesome, when's the next one?"

very good,
I am very happy about the layout and after posting that last reply I did find that you do have the rules "clearly" stated and I feel much better now knowing that you will run a kick ass party and I will tell as many people as I can from OSG to come. I think there are about 5-10 people participating already. I'm trying to get the people who think they're good at UT to form teams for fun in CTF.  There are going to be a lot of people in the CS games because, well.......it's CS. I do agree about crackaz' defence and I didn't intend to bash them in anyway. I was just making sure about the layout of the tournys. They do have a great facility down there, and I think that it'll take off once they fine tune a few things. hell, OSG hardly had any people their first 6 months until perkins clan helped out. If it weren't for them, we'd probably still be using cubicles:lol
