Mac and PC systems

...As far as a lap top If you have an Ipod, Mac is the way to go. If you don't you can also run XP on a mac using a secondary program.

I have a Zune.     I will NOT get an Apple until I am suddenly struck with the urge to play no more games, lose most functional business software, and go all artsy fartsy since it has very few games, little support for Outlook and Exchange, and even fewer number of mouse buttons.

To be honest, I have no use for Macs unless I want to walk away from the M$ and PC compatible world totally.  Apple has this thing about being totally proprietary and controlling.  I can't believe people call M$ the borg when Apple is worse, just more subtle about it.

But in all fairness...

IE7 is THE worst pile of crap to be shoveled onto end user that I have ever seen, and I have seen some bad apps in my 15 years.  You should have heard the Mrs. when she had to start using it.  Wow, I thought she was going to meltdown 'cause they took away the menu bar and hide all the labels.  All I could do was look at her and agree.

ZW, You haven't heard of Leopard? Macs newest OS it has full support of Mac application and full support of PC/M$ Application. I've played with some of the betas and, I played WoW, CoD4, BF2, And a Few other. Not to mention I have used other PC Apps on it. This is why I'm considering getting a mac, if it wasn't for Leopard I wouldn't have considered it and a main cmputer.

How much to expand the RAM on that Mac?  or HD space?  can you do that yourself?

I prefer to do most of my own maintenance so Apples have always been off my list.  Maybe that will change, but not soon.

Have you even been following Mac in the slightest?

Mac are using and Intel platform in fact Core Duo Processors
Memory is expandable by the user
as is the Hard Drive.

They have moved from the Motorola chipset a two years ago
since then have been moving toward new ground.

I knew they had moved to Intel, but haven't worked with the upgradeable stuff in a while.  Cost wise, are the upgrades compareable?

Well it depends baseline models of similar configuration are similarly priced. Maybe a little more. However the more you tack on the more the price gets hefty and I mean hefty.

From this link you can see a baseline mac pro for $2799.00
you can build it up $25,043.00 but the option are wow.

Laptops are as always less upgradeabl but you can do ram and HDs I believe

You can upgrade video if you want they can either use NVIDIA or ATI
RAM up to 32GB
4TB of SATA HD Space

With Boot Camp  or Paralles you can run XP or Vista on a Mac.
But like  said Leopard supports M$ and Others Apps

Oh and Leopard only need 512mb of ram to run, and a 877mhz proc.

Hmm, $2800 base price?  That seals the deal for me...  Not getting a Mac.  I am pricing a new laptop with 3GB RAM, Dual Core Intel 2.2GHz CPU, 250GB HD, nVidia VC, 15.4 screen, and a docking station that includes a mouse and keyboard for the grand sum of $1800.

Not that I'm cheap, but I want my moneys worth.  heck, I can even run all my apps in native OS and STILL save $1000.
