Ask Dan: What's with the 3Gb memory barrier?
« on: August 13, 2007, 02:38:52 PM »

You can install at least 4Gb of memory on most motherboards today, but apparently you shouldn't install more than 3Gb if you're not running a 64-bit operating system.

That would be correct, thank you very much MS.  Of course that is only correct if you aren't running an Enterprise version of Windows.

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

I'm sorry to hear that. DirectX is bad for my health but it's kinda like global warming I have to deal with it.

It's much better than what we had before with all the different standards out there and the compatibility issues.

I never had issues with OpenGL being incompatible with anything it worked on any card, any system, and any OS (some assembly required  sometimes, but it worked)
