Although it does disable the creation of the adminstrative shares, with the proper work you can be secure your system WITHOUT disabling them.

The only time the shares are really a vulnerability is when your password is compromised, or your Administrator LogonID is compromised. the administrative shares are only accessable by members of the Local Administrators group.

I just love when websites post FUD.

The Windows registry editor is one of the most powerful tools available to any tweaker. WindowsXP has a nasty habit of only allowing one window open by default, which can be limiting if lots of changes need to be done, and it makes keeping track of different registry keys and settings a little difficult. However it is possible to open up a second instance of Regedit.
After loading the Windows Registry editor, go back to Start -> Run and this time type "regedit â€“m" and hit the OK button. The â€“m switch allows users to open a second window which should help keep things organized a bit easier.

I don't Like XP's BACK and recovery system I got my system right were I wanted it and the backed up my registery. I have my games on one drive and os on the other. Then if I need to reoad my os then i can recover my registry and be back up and running plus I have images my drives.

When it comes to computers, you can never have enough memory bandwidth. AMD Athlon64 users can boost their computers' bandwidth by about 25% by setting one little memory timing tighter... so listen closely, this is a hush-hush kind of deal. What you'll want to do is go into the motherboard BIOS (usually you press the 'Del' key at POST, sometimes it's 'F1,' 'F2,' 'F10' or 'F12' depending on the motherboard). Once you're in the BIOS, find the memory timings section. These are typically found in the "DRAM configuration" or "Advanced Chipset Features" sections. Once located, find the "Command Rate" or "Command Per Clock" option and change its value to "1T."

Memory willing, with the Command Rate set at 1T performance should increase slightly and bandwidth will increase greatly! Please keep in mind that only high quality memory can run with a Command Rate of 1T and if you are using all four DDR DIMMs (Socket 939/940), the Athlon64 memory controller will not handle the 1T setting.

But does anybod know how to re-enable disk management in windows? The error I get tells me that it has been disabled and or its resources have been disabled.
