CoolWebSearch being used for Identity theft
« on: August 08, 2005, 07:13:29 PM »
I recieved my latest copy of the SpywareInfo newsletter last weekend, and there was a section talking about a researcher at Sunbelt Software finding that there was a variant of the spyware CoolWebSearch that is being used for some VERY heavy identity theft.

There is an update on this at http://www2.spywareinfo.com/2005/08/08/569 that details more about this situation.

It is imperative that you make sure that you do not have this installed, your anti-spyware is up to date, and that you scan frequently.

And MS Anti-SpyWare is NOT a valid anti-spyware app!!

Zoƫ: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.
