ut2k3 benchmark (xp vs. a64)
« on: August 25, 2004, 12:47:06 AM »
I just benched my athlon XP 2600 against my athlon 64 3000 and the difference is amazing!

First the specs

System #1.
Athlon XP 2600 (2ghz)
abit AN7 motherboard
512mb ddr400 ram (3-3-3)
ati raden 9800 pro 128mb

System #2
Athlon 64 3000 (also 2ghz)
Chaintech ZNF3-150 ZENITH
512mb ddr400 ram (2-2-2)
ati radeon 9800 128mb

The benchmark was run at 1024X768 on both systems.

System #1
Flyby : 190.604538
Botmatch : 63.208580

Fully playable. But we can do MUCH better :evil

System #2
Flyby : 231.899078
Botmatch : 91.772324

What could be making most of the difference is the larger cache and the on chip memory controller of the A64. Just thought some of you would like to see this.

Hmmm, thinks 64 bit upgrade may be in the wings.

Yeah I can truely say that my next prossesor will be AMD and most likely it wil be a 64.
No matter how hard you try to push the envelope, remember it's only stationary.

intel will have one out by then. remember that these benchmarks are not real life. Depending on what you use it for one is better then the other and vise versa

Intel may have one by then but the price will be too high and amd will likely still have the edge when playing games (which I think we all do :lol ). Until intel lowers their price AND leads in game performance I'm sticking with amd (as 90% of my computer use is for games).

'Sides, they still have to get a chip that does both 16 and 32 bit!

what vid card did you test with? If it was a 9800XT or better that would do it.

is that faster or slower than a 9800pro? (I'm no longer a nvidia fan. the geforce 4 ti 4600 was my last nvidia card)
