One Nation under God!

What is so scary about God? Is it really so bad to mention him in the Pledge of Alegence? I mean we say his name all the time wether we are christian, not.
Most of the time it is something like "Oh God, or "G.D.". But whether we believe in him or not he is still talked about all the time. The nation was founded in the name of God, and even if the "Under God was add in the '50s it is not like you have to say it.

I was watch a commercial for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow; and in the commercial they have little kids reciting the pledge with "under God" in it . one more reasn i love Tom Clancy.

Before people start going off on it i think mabey they should look in to it.......the reson FDR put it in there is because he wanted to show up the soviets. He put "under god" in there to say" hey......freedom of religon all who want it become democratric"....... it is not saying under god......it is more sayting under all religions.  -------end rant----------

Hey Snauz, take a chill pill(By the way it is talking about GOD as in the one and only).  But, this is just about how cool it is that on public television someone had the pecans to actually say the entire pledge of alligiance, even "one nation under God".

remember freedom isn't free

The basis for the argument of removal of the phrase "under God"  is the seperation of church and state.  Unfortunately this concept is NOT in the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, or the Declaration of Independence. As a matter of fact, ole' Thomas Jefferson himself said there wasn't anything like that in his letters.  Unfortunately, the law can't figure it out so we keep facing off against this all the time.

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

but the whole seperation of church and state is so the Government can't use the religion to control the population. saying God is not control!

The idea is that the government cannot tell you who, how, or what to worship.

And yet, isn't that exactly what they are doing by denying my ability to speak His name?

And I have not seen the government do this, except when people start whining about God's name being said.

In my opinion, I think that people natually don't want God's name spoken or mentioned in secular conversation because the world instinctivly want to feel comfortable with sinful secular life and not worry about it while saying "it's natural".

The Bible clearly tells us that we are of a sinful nature, and the fact that when His name is spoken in conversation, people see that the way they're living isn't up to par becuase they are not right with Him. That thought helps feed their drive to not follow Him and deny him (just look at the psycology of denial).

Even though there are exceptions to some people out there who do like dealing pain and destruction, most people don't want to feel like they are hurting anyone by their selfish actions.

[SUMMARY]---> People whin about his name spoken because they don't want to acknowledge His exsistance.....therefore they won't have to change the way they live.

....but, that is my opinion. Only take it at that

Wow! I have known you all this time and didn't know this side of you.

Very well spoken,  and I agree 110%.  Peeps do NOT want to be reminded that they might be doing something wrong.
