I'm wondering what the determining factors are in how clear game voice is.  I think that there are several parts to the puzzle and would like others insight as to importance and impact.  Components of GV:

Software/Driver
Microphone
Sound Card/Integrated Sound
Connection

Tuesday, Opie could be heard loud and clear by all, all the time.  This might indicate that the major problem is connection related since he is on a bigger pipe.  I believe (although this could be perception only) that others have a hard time hearing me much of the time.  I have to shout for it to be loud enough.  I currently use the onboard sound, and wonder if upgrading to a sound card would make the difference.

I wuld agree with the bandwidth statement, as I know that Opie is playing on a business connection instead of a consumer connection.

Card and driver quality will determine the audio quality, as well as the mic you are using.  I have considered using a nice commercial mic for my connection before.  Something like a modded Shure SM58. ;)

But I am too lazy to do the mod.

It's definitely in the bandwidth.  Line latency, the amount of time it takes to get info from one place to another, is the key factor and has nothing to do with the chopping that was being experienced.

Anyway, what I was trying to say was that your mic or sound card is not the cause of the choppy sound you all heard from Wolverine or Spade.  I heard everything perfectly.

The line latency in your connection is the enemy.

With regard to the editing.  Our hosting service just upgraded to PHP 4.2.2 and it broke the editting function.  I am working on it.
