Have you tried slaving it to your new hard drive and accessing it that way?

That is actually what I was going to suggest.  Load your OS on the new drive, then connect the old drive as a slave and copy what you need.

I have used this approach several times with bad drives.

Did you say if it was LCD or CRT?
Where is the buzzing coming from?

do you have the speakers plugged into the sound card when it buzzing, have tried a new/different monitor, and do you see the booting process happen on the screen with previous metioned monitor, what brand is the LCD, does the LCD have a remote power supply (little black/any color box), has anyone hit/dropped or any other concusive happen to the monitor?
I can't think of anyonther questions to ask about it,  heck you might just need to get a new LCD.
Let me know

Speakers were not plugged in, We tried a new monitor and it all works so the computer is fine, no remote power suppy , monitor was sitting in desk it was never hit or dropped that i know of/anyone has confessed to. LCD is a Proview

Any one know about the cost of a new/used lcd?  right now were kind of on a budget but my mom would really like a lcd becouse our work space is very close quarters. :fight:

Just from the sounds of it you may have a shot power supply

You can get an LCD from Computer Renassance for $399, it's a NEC I believe.
CompUSA Sells the for $499 and up. it just depends on the quality you need and want
I bought my LCD at Computer Ren. for $399 and it's IBM LCD.

I concur.  You have most likely lost the PS in the unit.

Well you need to find the PS. Next you need to remove it if you can. Now You need to find a way to get the PS for you model LCD through Proview or something. Now you can stick it in. Sound easy right? Well it's not that easy and unless you a genious with LCD and electronics it's a tough fix. The other way is to mod an extern PS to it, but that take some electronics working like matching the Voltage and current output of the PS to the LCDs voltage and current  input. it would be much easier to buy a new one.
but if you know how to do these thing you can. I have Modded LCD power supplies and know what to look for. it's up to you. Although I would strongly suggest buy a new one before going in and operating especially since this is going to be a primary monitor.

It actually reminds me of an overvoltage protect circuit kicking in on the PS.
