Opie helping out in User Friendly?
« on: February 24, 2004, 08:48:09 PM »
One of the strips I read frequently is User Friendly.

Lately there has been a large amount of strips that suspiciously close to what Opie sounds like.

Here is an example:  http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20040224
--------------------------------
Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

*Jolly's hand flies at full speed and smacks himself in the forhead, shacking his head and rolling his eyes at Snauz's responce; as he stands in the corner watching Snauz set himself up for a good ol' case of foot in mouth disorder.*

Normally I would not deign to answer to a PFY, but here you go:

DCE: Data Communications Equipment
DTE: Data Terminal Equipment
DBMS: DataBase Management System

next time try tougher ones. ;)  I have been through the CCNA course, and work with RDMS everyday.

Something like name all the switches for memmaker and what their purpose is.  Tweak a system for greater than 640K base memory.

Or maybe the dip switch setting on an L1 controller for a 256 processor system.

If you hadn't guessed it yet, you just walked into a room full of BOFHs......we just hang out to "help" people like you with there sub-marginal computer knowledge.

I going to take a whack at this one...

advapi32.dll  can use usernames and passwords to secure applications it also  will use the username/password to identify processes being run by a user.  it can also be used in secure Data Base calls. and is use alot in scripting as basic funtion calls
it also is used with encryption.

so it is not the best technical answer
I had to think back to one of my classes to even com up with what little I did

Ok, here is a real world question for all of you.  Let's see how many can get this right.

You are attempting to install perl 5.8.0 on RH9.0 and while installing it you want to turn off thread enabling.  How do you do it?

Google is no help on this question.  It is knowledge only passed from Unix Gurus to their disciples, or found by reverse engineering of Perl rpms by lazy BOFHs.  It only took me 5 hours to figure out how to do it.
