UT3
« on: November 23, 2007, 10:42:54 PM »
Having played the new Unreal Tournament now for the past few hour I have an opinion.  The feel of the origional UT is back with new graphics.  The new graphics actually are hard for me to adjust too but the feel of the weapons and telefragging is back.  I give this game a 8 out of 10 rating.

I said the same thing, I loved the demo, unfortunately I can barely run it on my system. However the game play of UT 99 was there and I was overjoyed by this. as soon as my system can run it, it will be a game i own.

I agree. Long time no see Opie. I thought I might see you on vent or COD4.
most of us have been playing COD4. It put new fire in the clan. Even wolfe is back.
I have not got it. I want to know if there is going to be any clan play.
I did get crysis. Game engine sucks 18 fps with 8800gtx sli. Still doesn"t have driver support.

Common Boom, that doesn't mean the Game engine sucks it just means they over developed the engine. Look at Ever quest, the game is four and a half years old and you still can't run it at it's highest graphics settings. Heck I saw it running on a system with two 8800, and 3 gigs of ram and dual core dual procs and the game still lagged the system. Crysis was over developed so that they can reuse the engine later on down the road, or lease it like the unreal engine  or quake engines were leased.
I'm really hoping for Clan play in UT, and I can't wait to see the Opie out on COD4.

I actually bought COD4 at the same time I got UT3 and having just finished patching COD4 I am sure I'll be on tonight.

I am trying to figure out how to turn on the tranny on a server, and how to code the macros for weapon switch like I had before, but so for no luck.  But you are very right, it plays a lot like the old UT.  I have missed that so much.

Maybe I should lose the second monitor and go back to trying SLI.  Unfortunately with SLI you can't have a second monitor setup even on the same card.  :(

So basicilly that is what I said... But more drawn out.
Crysis is just an other Ever Quest 2 ebgine. It is unfortunate for most current gamers, but I think Crytek kind of new what they where doing when they started this adventure. I just hope that if they release a patch that it doesn't retard the engine permanently. That would be unfortunate. As I see it, Crytek made a good engine, they planned for the future. They were smart by creating it this way. However, it has made current gamers suffer, and current systems inferior. Hardware changes so much, that by creating engines like this they actually save money in the long run because they can develop off this engine a lot longer.

You can build the best game in the world but if you don't have the drivers to run it. how good is it now?

Still good, but it will be better playing as soon as the drivers come out. Everyone can't see that this engine is a good engine, just because it is a little ahead in time, and all that jazz.
