LOL :lol

Hey I want to play hl2 and bf2 and my old A64 3000 just can't do what I want. Just sad pci-e boards are not out in any real quantity yet. REALLY wanted one.

Wonder if I can go with 3 raptor drives in raid 0? Time to live off ramen noodles again :x

I have ordered the case / cpu / mobo / psu already. I'll order one rapter next week. (and another 2 weeks later).

Going to be a real sweet system.

Ya know, Jolly, that just may be your best excuse for why you have the suck factor turned up in CoD!

4 parts coming this weekend!!!! :rolling

Case / PSU / CPU / Motherboard

I'm really looking at an x800XL now. For $299 list you get 98% of what the x800xtpe gives. Although vendors are gouging and charging nearly $500 for it  .

Next paycheck 2 74gig raptors (getting a head-start on the lanparty this time).

BTW
Anyone know of good headphones for computers? I don't want to bring my stereo again :lol. ($40-$80 is fine with me)

With or without mic?

I use a set that goes behind the head instead of over the head.  Has a volume control and mute switch on the line.

But for the life of me I can't remember what model or manufacturer.  I will check when I get home.

they cost me about $30US.

How about these?

I don't know about my new motherboard but my last 2 were not powerfull enough to drive headphones. So I need powered ones or an external amp.

Everything will show up this weekend and I'll find out then. Perhaps it's time to visit the shack.

I run mine off of the sound card.  If you aren't getting enough power off the source, then you either need more power from the PS or better headphones.  Be sure to match the Impedance of the headphones to the board.  For the most part this houldn't be an issue unless you are using some off the wall product.  If it isn't matched, you could have a problem.

OR

Perhaps Jharsh, you should go into have your ears checked. If you need an outside amp to pump up the sound THAT much, you may have hearing loss.

you should pick up a new card and a new headset for this build
I believe the SB audigy 2 is fairly resonable in price and you can get a nice headset for $15.00 to $30.00. Just a thought.
