Now that there is a thread that talks about your current system, let's talk about your FIRST system.

list them below...

fffff, it was a Packard Bell PoS! I made the mistake of bringing my wife with me when I bought it, so I had to get the cheapest thing I could find... I think it was a 75 mhz Pentium with 8 meg of ram. I was kicking arse online in Descent 2 on Kali Dos with my sweet 14.4 modem. Those were the days. I don't really know the rest of the specs as I didn't know anything at all about computers before I bought it (not that I know a whole lot more now). I learned everything I know about computers by screwing that thing up and trying to figure out what the heck I did... I remember it had onboard audio which was a pain because I bought a new Soundblaster card and I learned about "conflicts" and such

It had Windows 95 on it, but I ran most my games in Dos because they didn't play all that well under windows.

My first PC wasn't.

I had a Atari 800XL that I bought with my pay from my Summer Job.. Cost me $299. I loved that thing 'cause i bought it myself. I borrowed a tape drive until I could earn enough for the floppy drive. I even had a dot matrix printer for it!

I still have it, just needs a new video chip put in.

my first system was a tandy 4016dx.

intel 386DX 16mhz
4mb ram (cost us a little over $500 back in 1991 for this much)
50mb quantum hard drive
512k vga
COLOR dot matrix 24-pin printer.

In the end the whole system cost over $4000. Man just think of what $4000 would buy today (just think of what $2000 would get).

I still have this system but a capacitor exploded so I have to fix that. I still use our second system(from 1993) which is a 486DX2-66 ast advantage adventure 6066d.

Zwarrior may be able to remember better than i do on mine...

But I believe my first computer was a

Pentium 166mhz
64mb ram
4mb 3D Virge
Sound blaster Awe32
WD 3 gig HD
15' Monitor

I remember shortly after this my brother gave me (2) 3dFx voodoo rush 4mb add on video cards.. which gave me a total of a WHOPPING 12mb video memory..

I remember playing Duke Nukem all the time...

My brother had a computer before that. I think it was a 286. I remember playing Dungeons and Dragons, "Eye of the Beholder series". I love that game. I still have it.. I have the entire series. I played that game ALL THE TIME.. night and day..

still have/use you c64 JollyRoger? I picked one up about 3 years ago and love it. I use to keep it next to my primary gaming rig but today I keep it next to my ps/2

. Still a lot of fun games for the c64. Just wish it was simpler to program.

How can You get any more simpler then basic or assembly:D, I haven't had one for about 3 years now and I do miss them
I have a couple of emmulators that i use that support the use of the 1541 drive
but As for the real thing, no I had about 7 of them for a while and I would scrap 6 of them to keep one alive, man i miss those days.

On another note do you have the orignal Power supply? if so I suggest finding a newer one, When they go they can take the computer with them.

200 or 300 vesrion i cant reember

Ok now I feel old. My first real computer was a commodore vic20. Even before the c64. The next three where c64s, I really liked havint thoes.

Now the first computer I played around with is another story. That was just my first personally owned computer. I played on the Atari 200 and 300 in High School. they first systems that I CAN name that I played on is a PDP.

There were earlier ones that I played with/on and don'twanna say much about. Let's just say that my father was in the military, and I went with him to work a lot. I remember using punch cards and punch tape.

No seriously, my dad had a C64, I hated computers because of that thing. Then I found windows in college...aaaaah GUI gotta love it. Oh and files don't disappear on you. I worked on several reports for school that just went poof on the C64.

First computer I bought was a AMD k6-266 4 gb HD, 32mb ram, Win 95 couldn't play anything with it, but it financed my next one which was my entry into gaming Athlon 1ghz, 256mb ram, 2 X 8gb scsi hd's, ATI Radeon 7200 VIVO

Since then I've just slowly upgraded piece by piece.

i am talkin bout what i owed got it with a cople cartrges and 4 joystics for 25 cents

I think that my dad figured it was something to keep me busy.

This might be a little off topic, but did anyone here have an Atari 5200 console? My dad got me one, and that was my first actual gaming experience. I don't think they made more then 20 games for the thing, but I liked it at the time

I know it was out there, but it came out after I returned from Germany, and there really wasn't much presence for Atari in Omaha that I saw.

Atari was a gentle breeze in omaha, Which is sad because it was a nice system. Nintendo was and still is to a degree the thing, Personally I liked old school nintendo. but I have always been a PC person.

I actually had the 3 major atari systems (2600/5200/7800). they were all nice. I still use the 2600 and 7800 from time to time. the 5200 controllers are broke so I can't use it. It also used odd controllers so replacements are hard to find or even build.

HA! i still got u all beat with my atari 400(i fugered it out now)

only good for asteroids and pacman.......cant forget pole positon.
