I take it that you are scavenging the remaining parts from your old machine?

But why overclock anymore.  it made sense back when you could get an additional 30% for free, but now days you are looking at .5 - 1% at the most.  Why risk it?

Yes I know. You can get the PCs O/C at the manufacture for a price. I ordered mine without it being O/C. I think if you have two 8800gtx video cards it might make a difference. If you look at the AMD2 cpu running those cards they benchmark much slower. NV card use the CPU a lot more than ATI. That said If you go with an AMD CPU you are better too go with an ATI video card.

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2902
But when you can buy a cpu at $180 and get better results than a $550 FX74 cpu. This would be reason.

This is a good read for those who only have $1000 for a build. At the end it gives a link for those who still want a AMD pc.

Yeah, that's what I figured.  It was easier to go with the tried and true than to switch.

Well after 4 weeks of back and forth. I canceled my order a cyberpowerpc and now have parts comming from Newegg and Zipzoomfly. I got the M/B at compusa $100 bucks off :hotbouns:

Opie I'll need to get the H/d by this week end. You want me to pickem up?

BFG 680i motherboard
2 gig dominator ddr2 8500
Coolmaster 830 case
coolmaster 850 6 rail Q Sli PSU
2 Evga 8800GTX superclocked
Zalmans 9700 H/s
4 super fast H/d's

Now all I might need is a Razor sound card
We will see how the on board HD sound is first.

My experience is that the onboard sound is just ok.  Nothing to write home about, and definitely not Sound Blaster quality.

Why the change in vendors again?

They wanted to give me different ram. I got sli ram at Newegg. And if I have any problem with the M/B I have 21 days to return it. My next one would be the 650 chip set.

Boom, we have a problem.  I got two 250gb drives but apparently I got subbed with 7200rpm model that are considered a suitable substitute for the raid that they are meant for.  What do you want to do?
