the 400 was released in 1979 the same year as the 800. (I'm also a fan of atari). Sadly the 400 has no expansion like the 800 had(so your stuck with the stock ram/rom).

I thought the 400 was a little more areodynamis then the 800. the inset keys of the 400 made it travle further, Soryy snauz :D
