LAN setup
« on: January 22, 2009, 06:01:35 PM »
Hi y'all! I have a problem setting up my networking properties. I have two pc's both are on wireless internet and I also have a wired line running to a router linking the two. I want to be able to network the two through the wired connection and have internet through the wireless... I have it set up on one pc (Sorta... ill call that one pc2) but the other isnt giving me the same results. even though I have multiple nic's it will not let me set which to use for the internet and LAN. The first pc (pc2) did it just fine except to get on the internet I have to disable the wired connection (actually the network bridge the network setup utility made) and then re enable to get to the other pc over the wired connection. on the primary PC (pc1) i have tried for a wile to get it set up the same way thinking that everything will work out if i have them setup the same... well I haven't been so lucky, Im know the basics and I have taken networking courses in the past but its been a wile and it was manly working on the $1000 Cisco routers with the command prompts ( if i had one of those babies right now.... :) )  anyway if any of you have any suggestions maybe something i didn't think of, let me know please....

 Thanks,
      nick

Nick, I'm not entirely sure you can set you network up like that. I think windows will only associate with one ip connection.
No matter how hard you try to push the envelope, remember it's only stationary.

What OS are you using?  XP doesn't Multi-home nicely.  You are better off just running both wireless to the 'Net.

Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

Transfer speeds are too slow even at 270Mb.  Plus I was getting some drops in signal after a long transfer... I need the wired connection.. Do you think there could be a problem with the wired Linksys router?  like a bad channel?  I was having more trouble when it was hooked up on a diff channel...
