All is well, it missed us... barely

Those of you here in Omaha know already that we had some serious weather and that they are deciding whether it was a tornado or if it was extreme winds that hit the area last night.

The damage patch starts about a block and a half from my house and goes NNE about 8 - 10 miles.

We had no damage here at the house, but there are houses that lost their roof nearby and one that backs up to my house that lost shingles at the peak.

I was awake and just going upstairs from playing online when it hit.  I didn't realize that it was a tornado, but I did wonder because the noise from the wind and rain was incredible.  I tried to look out the patio door to see what was going on and the wind and rain were so bad I could barely see the grill that sits up against the house.

I went to the bedroom and turned on the TV while I was getting ready to go to bed and about 5 minutes later I heard the sirens go off.  The wife had fallen asleep on the couch and woke up just after I left the room.  She heard the sirens and came to get me.  We sat in the basement for about an hour watching the only channel that had any news about the storm, waiting for the all clear.

It wasn't until this morning that we found out that the damage starts a few blocks from the house.

We are all fine, and thank everyone for the calls to make sure we are OK.  The only damage was the garbage dumpsters that were blown down the driveway.

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

Here is a newscast from this morning.
The fence damage you see at the start is 4 block away, and the couple they interview right at the beginning live about 1.5 blocks away.

Wow!  Glad you weren't on duty last night Snauz.  That would have been hairy indeed.

I didn't see anything during the storm.  Heck, the roads were dry so I went and rode my motorcycle across town and back.  Yep, no rain for me here in Denver.
