"Big Dog" Quadroped robot video
« on: March 19, 2008, 10:07:04 AM »
Boston Dynamics has released a new video of their Big Dog project.  This is a four legged robot with better balance and walking skills that even Snauz can claim.  Watch as they kick it and it recovers without falling over, and then it slips and slides on the ice and still doesn't go down!

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

That is some craziness.
No matter how hard you try to push the envelope, remember it's only stationary.

Add some self leveling gun turrent tech, like on an A1 Abrahms, and you got a fun new toy.

The amazing part was watching it recover from the kick and the sliding on the ice.  We are talking about a robot with more presence of mind than me when dealing with ice.  Me, I just figure it's easier to take the fall and get up from there, instead of wrenching my back trying to stay upright.
