Halp!
« on: February 13, 2008, 12:34:58 AM »
Well... My computer died on me last week. Not too sure what is wrong with it completely but it is starting to look like the motherboard is shot.

The computer will not boot unless the switch from the power supply is flipped on (which only works occasionally). Neither the power, reset, or connecting the power prongs on the mobo with metal will do the trick. Not too sure if this is related (hoping it is) but my hard drive is making a constant click noise when the mobo BIOS comes on.

ZW was kind enough to send me a power supply because initially it was thought that it wasn't getting power but after some testing, the comp was still not booting.

Otherwise if it is the mobo, anyone got one that they would like to sell? It needs to be a socket 939, raid IDE (which means I need 3 IDE connectors), AGP, and at least 1 SATA 1.5 port.

I need it ASAP since I use it for my school work. I hope someone still has an AGP board still out there, me and my dad were searching around and found barely anything. I'm hoping I won't have to upgrade seeing as that I don't really have any to do an upgrade...

Here is my only help;

www.PriceWatch.com

An old IDE raid will be next to impossible to find.

Yea, its starting to look like I might have to remove 2 of my dvd drives for my hard drives. Even worse is that its way too hard to find an AGP board. Thats something I didn't expect to disappear so fast, I thought there would of been more AGP boards still around.

Even my older equipment is not that spec.  I have AGP on the desktop computer, but no IDE RAID.  That is a tough order to fill.  Sorry man.

Yea, I figured the IDE raid would be hard to come by from what I saw on the few motherboards that still had AGP. Just even trying to find a socket 939 with AGP is hard enough...

Anyone know how good ASRock is? My dad was suggesting this board http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=939DUAL-SATA2-R&cat=MBB and just was wondering what your guys input is.

yea, now its at that point where I need a new one. Not too sure what I'm going to do yet but since they've really gone down in price I might go to ebay or look around and see if I can find something nice and cheap.
