Help in backing up games
« on: June 11, 2005, 06:38:17 PM »
I am currently trying to backup some games and have been encountering a new protection software called "SecuROM *NEW*".

I've made an iso of the game, but it will not allow me to use it to play.

I have tried also to do a disk to disk copy and it will not even allow me to try and play it.

Does anybody know how to avoid this problem and go off of an iso on my hdd or even make a copy of the cd?

the only way is to find some really good Virtual Drive tools and you need to be able to make a true 1:1 iso copy of the disk.
No matter how hard you try to push the envelope, remember it's only stationary.

Like??

I did do some research on "SecuROM *NEW*" and found out that it will not let me burn a true copy because the software will see it as a copy by emitting something almost like a beep and if that beep does not match with what the software, then it will not let me put it through to play.

Some how I need to trick this software so I can use my back up thats on my hdd or cd.

Like I Said you need to make a 1:1 ISO Copy.

Not sure what software out their will do it but that is what you need to do

What I did is use Alcohol 120 to make an .mds file, and then used a program called Alcoholer to add the needed thing to get by the encryption.

Links?!?

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

Well, I spoke too soon on this program....

What happend is that I did not realize that I still had the cd in my cd drive and the game was playing off of that instead of off the hdd.

I guess I will have to do some more seaching on how to get this to work.

Alcoholer did help with the game Warcraft III and it's expansion, but I am still having problems with the game Empire Earth II.

Right now I am going through the Alcohol 120 support forms trying to figure out what to do.
