Presenting ID is a must?
« on: February 28, 2005, 09:03:51 AM »
Many of you know that I am a bit of a privacy advocate.  I like my privacy, and although I am willing to scrifice some for convenience, I will defend it or at the least monitor it.

I just found an interesting article about John Gilmore, former Sun employee, multimillionaire, founder of the EFF.  He was asked to present ID prior to getting on an aircraft and asked "Why?".

When he asked to see the law that requires this ID, he was told that it was against the law for him to see that law.  I have a real problem being told that as a citizen of this country I am not allowed to see a law that I am being held to.

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

I believe it is illeagle to even say that.
In most cases if someone is telling you one thing and not allowing you access to the governing rule or law around it, then it is most likely false.
There have been many case in my life where that has been brought up and when I have found the law that they were misrepresenting, myself or my mother would have brought it to there attention the matter was dropped.
most of my expeirence was arond schooling.
No matter how hard you try to push the envelope, remember it's only stationary.

No, in this case it really is against the law to tell him what law is requiring the display of his ID.

Read the article for more information.
