WinXP Sp2 vs Intel Prescott

Now who's the the fault party, M$ would say it's Intel's fault for releasing the chip without consaulting them. Intel Would agree with the rest of the world in say M$ Fault, For just being there. And then there is my opinion...

Actually, if you read closely, the fault lies with MS.
The issue witht he chip is only with stepping revisions below rev8.  MS has made an automatic assumption that you are on rev8 or above.  The revisions should be fairly easy to find since it's microcode.

  The fault also lies with users that are not updating their BIOS regularly.  If they did, then the revisions would have been pushed into the chip at boot, and SP2 would have worked.

My 2 cents?  MS should have made sure to check it, and the users should have made sure to update more regularly.

Speaking of which, I think I need to go check for updates on mine.

I am still a little sketchy 'bout doing bios flashes, it makes me quezey.  Last time I Flashed bios it went bad. and unless I have the cah to buy a new board I can't afford to loose this one, Besides if I got a new board the i'd need a new Processor, if i went that far I'd need new, faster, more Memory,,,,The list goes on...*Sigh*

I still do it these days.  However, I am always careful and if in doubt will go out and verify the file first.
