Cool.  I have plans for the evening that weekend, but maybe we can at least make an appearance and see how things are going.

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

Here is a link to the actual part info and registration page.

Looks like:
Doom3 2v2 single elimination tournament - Saturday morning
Warcraft 3 single elimination tournament - Saturday evening through Sunday morning

Counter-Strike "x" server 1 - 32 players, CZ maps (will have mappack with suffix _ae at the end)
Counter-Strike "x" server 2 - 32 players, custom maps
Day of Defeat server - 32 players, standard 1.3 maps
Battlefield server (mod TBD) - 64 players
Luck is better than skill anyday! The more skill I get, the luckier I get!

Hey all

The only reason I didn't put together a 4v4 CS tourney was there didn't seem to be an interest. If we get more ppl interested then I'll host a tourney for it. Otherwise we will for sure have a Doom3 tourney and at least one RTS (right now it's WC3-TFT) ladder. The other issue with CS is do you run a CSS or a 1.6 tourney now? I'd rather do CSS but I think I'm in the minority there.

I've just picked up 4 Linksys WRT54G boxes (I work for Cisco who owns Link****) as prizes. Anyways, it will be a good time. If you are thinking about coming let us know (sign up) because I need to order catering based on attendance.

Ok boys and not-boys, here is the final low-down on the LAN, now with Linksys sponsership:

Date: October 22nd - October 24th
Time: 7pm Friday through 7pm Sunday
Location: Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown Omaha
Entry Fee: $20
Parking @ the Hotel: $8/day (sorry guys, just found this out. There is other parking nearby however including free street parking)

Game servers included:
Counter-Strike Source Server (40 player)
Counter-Strike 1.6 Server (32 player, CZ maps)
Day of Defeat Server (32 player)
Star Wars Battlefront (50 player)

Food & Drinks:
Free canned soda and plenty of junk/snack food (chips and what not)

Tournaments (sign-up on Friday night):
Game 1: Doom 3 2v2 (starts Saturday morning)
Prize: Linksys WRT54G to each member of the winning team ***new***

Game 2: Counter-Strike Source 4v4 Tournament (starts Saturday night)
Prize: Linksys WRT54G to each member of the winning team (no substitutes) ***new***

Game 3: Warcraft 3 - Frozen Throne or Starcraft - Broodwar(starts Saturday night)
Prize: $30 gift card to Best Buy to 1st place, $15 for 2nd place

The decisions on the tournaments for Starcraft versus Warcraft will be made at the start of the LAN based on attendance and interest. To participate in the Warcraft and/or Starcraft tournaments you MUST have the expansions Frozen Throne and/or Broodwar. This is not negotiatible. Signups will be available when the LAN starts. Due to time constraints, I will limit the number of ppl who can sign up in the tournaments so be sure to show up early as it will be first come first serve.

I'd really like if all of you could reach out to former Edgerack members who haven't visited these boards or have become inactive. I'd love to have at least 40+ former and current ER/NFW peeps here before I say lets bring strangers to the LAN. I'm all about new blood but I miss a lot of ppl who are MIA or who have left since I killed the servers earlier in the year.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE patch all of your games BEFORE coming to the LAN. I will have a file server with all the latest versions of games that *I* own. We will have a high speed internet connection but w/ 40+ people sharing it, I can't promise that it will be a great connection at all times. I would ask that you disable all P2P and bandwidth intensive applications while at the LAN. Be sure your machine is virus & spybot free and as this is a public event, harden your machine to the best of your ability. Remember, I'm a security engineer w/ Cisco so it's pretty easy to spot funny business and I WILL NOT TOLERATE any hacking of another person's machine. Cheating in games is also not allowed.

What I Need:
Hubs & Switches
Servers if you want a different game than listed above
Help running a tournament

Thanks and I look forward to seeing and fragging you all in Omaha later this month.

Snauz paid for F3, I don't think he'd pay for another LAN. :D
