What it be?

Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

Freudian slip ZW?  In addition I'd like to know opinions in regards to gaming and stability.  Which is better?  ME, W2K, XP, 98?  It XP really worth the hassle of activation?  I would hate to have to call MS everytime I upgrade hardware.

Naw, I am still contemplating a move to XP. But I am waiting for further support from the manufacturers.

You shouldn't have to load Win2K drivers for a device!

Ok not to be critical or anything, but give me some proof!  Why is Win XP Pro so much better?  How is W2K pro so crappy?  I'm running ME, it's seems ok, but I want something of substance before I drop the doubage.

I haven't had to reload XP Pro in over a year, and I rarely reboot.  That's why it's better that Microsofts other OS's.  It's starting to gain on unix in my opinion.

For me, it's because I use the PC for so much more than gaming.  I would be able to get a TermServ session directly into the desktop so I can check mail etc, instead of having to go through my server first.

So for gaming, what would the best OS be?

At this point, I am leaning toward XP, but not totally since there are still driver issues.  Otherwise, it may have to be a tie between ME and 2K because they both have positives and negatives.

Win2K: (compared to WinME)
Secure
much more stable
Doesn't support ALL DirectX/OpenGL APIs.
a software crash won't take down your system as easily
More expensive
wants more resources (RAM, HD, CPU)

But I'm not you, xp is my os with the new ati drivers I now out perform ME and 98. And i have no memory leak like in ME. I've had no crashes except a virus or two from hack sites and kazaa. Glad I got ghost,

well I'm not going list them all but here I go....

W2K Vs. WXP

XP has not crashed 1 time since ive used it (with or in any Prog)
2K crashed a lot (like once a week or so)

XP has been able to handle every app ive loaded on it
2K is very tempramental on progs there where a cupple that crashed the pc when I tryed to run them

XP has easy to use fetures that are pre built-in, like CD burn software among others...
2K None

XP realy easy install (the only drivers I have to install are sound, upgrade vid, mouse, GV, monitor, and upgrad keyboard [not nessasery though]
2K I have to Install every driver for every device and that takes a wile...

their is more but i got to go to bed, hope this helps....

Is this the difference between the pro, and the amateur?

I have been running Win2K for MANY months now, and have the system lockup only 3x, and that was because of the video card problems I am having.  You listed quite a few drivers that you had to load, all the same ones that I loaded.  My system has had no problems, with the exception of the one related to a failing video card.  The one thing I will give XP is that you can't buy Win2K anymore.

I am running, I am stable, and I have all the drivers for ALL my devices, unlike XP.  Give it some time, and XP will have drivers for every device.  Just not now.

Why did the server CRASH last week. If I remember it was not a hardware problem.

Fragshack isn't Win2K anyway.  Not sure why it crashed, I pulled it out of the server cabinet, plugged it in, and it fired right up. Dunno! 8/
