what is the big deal with CS?
there are new and better games out there, why all the fuss and muss with CS?

CS provides the relistic gameplay that other fps' dont have, like in UT2k3 you could hit a person in the head with the shock rifle(which I favor) and only do 40 damage like you would when you hit them in the foot. But in CS, there are different hit point for different parts of the body. Plus, there is recoil with the weapons, unlike 2k3. This allows some to become more inmersed in the game. But if you dont know how the guns work with movement, youre dead everytime you enter combat (generally). In 2k3 or Q3, the game is determined by your aiming skills and movement and resource control, so if you are naturally good at placing your cursor on the opponents, you can do good, unlike the realistic games where you have to know the game to be successfull at it.

Summary: "People like CS because it gives better luck for noobs, unlike the non-realistic "jump-off-walls-and-take-a-few-rockets-in-the-head-and-live-to-tell-the-tale" games like 2K3, or Q3"

Wow, I didn't realize the game did so much. I had thought about getting Halflife and  CS but I didn't like the graphics engine it uses. and I had never heard about the realizism. so I might just have to go out there and check it out. Thanks Slider for opening my eyes.

UT2k4 doesn't do more damage for a shot in the head?  I'm pretty sure when I played bot matches, the bots died quicker from the assault rifle when I put it on their head, as opposed to anywhere else.  Of course, it might not have been drastic, but still a bit quicker.  Am I wrong?

The sniper rifle and lightning gun in 2k3/2k4 are the only weapons that do more damage when they land head shots, but that is it.

In Quake 3, all of the weapons to the same no mater where you hit them, even with the railgun.

In UT99, when you have the shield belt, a head shot will take the sheldbelt completly away, unlike ut2k3 where Lightning gun headshots will take "only" 140 (70x2). Also, in UT99, if you have the body armor + thighpads, you will still die if you have a headshot landed on you.

In 2k4, the shields are the equivalent that of Quake 3 (armor/HP damage ratio). For instance, if you have 5 health and you picked up the 50armor then the 100armor (150), you will still die if you feel the slightest touch of splash damage (so much for protection, huh?). So if you have all of the armor, you will still take major damage to your health from headshots with the Lightning gunassult rifle, unlike it's prequel.

All that being said, the original statement is that if we make CS our main tournament, and give cash prizes, then we will get more people.

Nice thought, but we promoted the CS tournament for the last event WITH a $50 cash prize, and 1.5 teams showed up.

Sorry, it's not the cash prize, it's something else that is keeping them away.

Somebody figures it out, let me know.  I am still willing to have cash prizes, but I need to have the peeps there to be able to give them out.

I agree. Because when you get shot in Merciless and don't die, you walk in slow-mo and usually drop your weapon!  NOW how is that for realism!?!
