Some of you have bought one, and are getting it on-line.  What are your thoughts?

Before I got the Nostromo, I used the Stategic Commander,  I liked the strat comm, but there were drawbacks

[list=1]
  • Movement was sometimes a little slow since it's faster to move a finger than to move your whole arm/wrist
  • If it rotated you were running into a wall or off the astroid,  nuts I had the flag!!!!

Other than that I liked the strat comm

The Nostromo addresses both of the issues.  When I first got the nostromo, I tried to set movement up using the D-pad, didn't work, it was too uncontrollable.  I wouldn't even suggest triing it.  Then I set movement up with the keys, much better after the initial adjustment about 5-10 hours of game play.  It is very comfortable on my hand, much moreso than a keyboard.  I also like that I can set it up for different play styles, positions (defence/offense) etc.  So for me it was well worth the $20 that I paid. (I got it on sale).  I'm not sure that I would pay more than that, but I'm a cheap skate.  I won't buy an Antec case either.  LOL

Anyone got one that I can see in action?  I really don't want to buy one without seeing it first.

Nostromo owners that I know of: Zeet, Spade, Wolverine, Morpheus, ZWarrior.

They are just that good!

Me. ;)
I played all my games last night with it, and once it became more comfortable, I roced even more than usual.  The only drawback is that I have to curl my fingers a bit more than usual.

At first, I did not like it. I was frustrated trying to relearn keystrokes. I ended up putting it to the side of my PC.  I didn't think it was worth getting it for FREE! (a friend won it at the last game day and gave it to me)

But then, after talking with my sparring partner, Spade, He talked me into 'pushing through the frustration'. And SO i did.

And now I am glad I did. I love it!  I had some problems getting used to the change in my finger movements. I used to use the number pad on the keyboard (my strafe left was the plus sign and my strafe right was the enter key, both on the number pad).  I am now getting used to the new keys. As I said before...I LOVE it!..   i have more options with it.. you can also assign a 3 keys as (shift) keys for additional key strokes..  To give you an idea of the layout....

You have     12345   keys on top and then 12345   keys below those.  You also have an 8 directional thumb keypad.

You can assign 1 of those keys to shift to the (RED) console, now you have another set of the above keystrokes. You can assign another key for the (BLUE) console, and have those keystrokes as well.

SO, it gives you alot of diversity when playing a basic game or a game like Infiltration or JKII that you may need more keys to assign.

I have my  middle or num3 key (12345) setup for going forward. I can push my (RED) console shift key and the same key also puts out a speech taunt....  i like the options.

Opie Silver ....i think you would love it...

I think I'll buy one and give it a go, that is if my wife will stop spending money on home improvement projects.  Put up a fence this week.  Have you priced just the material for a fence lately?!!  :swear:  Could have bought a good system for that much money.  Wives just have no concept of what's really important to a gamer.

Already in place.  LAN party area has it's own breakers.  The only question now is when can I talk my wife into a party.

I am talking to a friend regarding doing the cleaning out this saturday. When I told my wife of the plans she, for some unknown reason, asked if there were another reason other than to get it cleaned up and organized.  :eek:  I am shocked that she would think that!

What other possible reasons would you have for wanting to cleanup?

Hmm motivation for cleaning basement/office (in priority order of course):

[list=1]
  • Please the wife (Throw a LAN party)
  • Tired of stubbing toes in the dark (Throw a LAN party)
  • Can't find the papers/components/books etc that you are looking for (Where is that game disk?  I need it to Throw a LAN party)
  • Find out what color the floor is (Throw a LAN party)
  • Find things to take to the goodwill to increase tax deduction (Get money from tax return to Throw a LAN party)
  • and at the end of the priority list THROW A LAN PARTY!!!!!!

Of course in the spirit of the top ten lists, you always save the best reason for last.

Someone must have coded a patch for these women that was applied when the marrage software was loaded.  Maybe it's one of Microsucks undocumented features.
