Still haven't run a 3DMark on the new system.  As a matter of fact, I haven't run one in over a year!

New VGA charts at Toms

Well, I'm glad this came out.  I got the best card for the price range I was looking at.  TI4200 beats the 8500 everywhere!  And in UT2003 it's a BIG margin 38 fps.  Yeah for $50 I could have gotten a better card but I didn't have the $50.  Hey, the TI4200 even beat the 9700pro on Jedi Knight II.  Woo Hoo!

I got a CPU upgrade last night not big, went from 1.33 to 1.4.  I'll do some benchmarks tonight and post tomorrow.  It'll be interesting to see the impact.  Unless someone requests it, I won't go back and benchmark my Radeon 7200 64mb DDR VIVO card.

The other thing that is cool my benchmarks aren't far off of Tom's so I know my system is performing as expected.

I have a Hercules Geforce2 Pro 64mb DDR card. I used the 3d tweaker they have and was able to overclock it.

Stock settings:
200 core
400 memory

Overclocked settings
240 core
420 memory

So my card is now rocking for an older card...

I did the 3dmarks2001. At first I got around 4500. Now overclocked I have 4860.

But I need to get a new card.....lol

CATALYST 3.0 - 10:49 am EST - G.I.Bro
Bring on cinematic realism! Today Microsoft released DirectX 9 to the world. DirectX 9 is an API (Application Programming Interface) built into Windows, that provides direct access to your graphics hardware.

Simply put, DirectX is a Windows technology that enables higher performance in graphics and sound when you're playing games or watching video on your PC.* DirectX 9 will enable movie-like graphics with its advanced nature.

Once again ATI and its industry-leading software suite CATALYST, pave the way for more realistic visual experiences.
All ATI graphic card owners with a RADEON class VPU will benefit from DX9.
Instructions:
1) Download DirectX9 from Microsoft DX9
2) Download CATALYST driver from ATI CATALYST 3.0
3) Check out the demos and screensavers at the same page as number 2 (for RADEON 9500/9700 series cards).
4) Stare at screen in amazement!

As if that is not enough, there is more!

As with most CATALYST(tm) releases, the performance has increased in many various situations. Here are some examples observed in CATALYST(tm) version 3.0.

A performance improvement of up to 35% at high resolutions is noticed in the game Jedi Knight. This performance improvement is noticed across all ATI RADEON(tm) products.
The RADEON(tm) 9000 PRO experiences a performance improvement of 2% to 4% in the game Return to Castle Wolfenstein
The RADEON(tm) 8500 experiences a performance improvement of 6% in the game Return to Castle Wolfenstein
The RADEON(tm) 7500 experiences a performance improvement of 5% in the game Return to Castle Wolfenstein
The RADEON 9000 PRO experiences a performance improvement of 6% to 12% in the game Dungeon Siege
The RADEON(tm) 8500 experiences a performance improvement of up to 10% in the game Dungeon Siege
The RADEON(tm) 7500 experiences a performance improvement of 8 to 15% in the game Dungeon Siege
The RADEON(tm) 7000 experiences a performance improvement of 12 to 14% in the game Dungeon Siege
The RADEON(tm) 7000 experiences a performance of 5% to 8% in the game Unreal Tournament 2003

Enjoy them all, and seasons greetings from all your friends at ATI & R3D!!

Wolfy found a nice card for the money.  It compares to the 4600 for about $200.00 and has extra bells and whistles.  Yes it is a DX 8.1 card but is asus and supports AGP 8x.  Nice find Wolfy.

Here for Asus:

First, it was spam.  I hate spam regardless of the content.

Second, it's a Compaq so there is bound to be issues at upgrade time.  Unless you do like Opie and use it only for work stuff and have another machine for gaming.
